The Kill

Swift arrow took the beast
Yet when it flew from its string
Time slowed to almost nothing
A heavy sound as it found purchase
Brought time back to normal
Sorrow mixed with victory
As the hunter surveyed his kill
Beauty taken surrounded by beauty
A necessary evil to sustain life
Dragging the carcass to his cave
He turned back only to find
The body he drug was his own

The Black Number

The black went on forever
Time and space forgotten
An eternity that began
Where my hands and fingers
Touched the fabric
Hugging her curves

Relic

Is it that I am an old soul
Requiring specific care
Less I become tarnished
Or my delicate parts
Should break
And that maintenance
Must be paired
With a history
Written on dusty scrolls
Sealed away
Only to be recovered
By the most steadfast
And adventurous

Puzzle

Straight edges and jagged interlocking pieces
A picture scattered in calm chaos before her
In time some of them would come together
Though she hopes it’s never completed

Loving the Sea

She lay upon the shore
Aloft rocks smoothed by time
The wind took her hair
The salt kissed her mouth
Patiently she waited
As the waves surged
And the tide came in

Eye to Eye

The lion gave its pity
And the mouse gave his time
Regardless of their arrangement
They never saw eye to eye

Girls Night

Wives run away
Leave your children at home
It is time that you played
A game called Bunco
Roll dice and gossip
Like a gaggle of geese
You’re birds of a feather
That have found their release
After the few hours
That you have been gone
With grace you return
To home like a swan
The nest is kept tidy
So you might enjoy
Your precious night out
Then come home to your boy
With nothing to clean up
And no dishes to do
He can spend his time
Relaxing with you
